President’s Message

Since 1993 the Comox Valley Newcomers’ Alumnae has nurtured friendships and bonds developed through the Comox Valley Newcomers’ Club.

When I first moved to the Valley, a friend encouraged me to join the Newcomers’ Club “as soon as you can”. Two weeks later I was getting to know the area’s hiking and biking trails, and meeting new people. The camaraderie I found in the Newcomers’ Club continued as I joined the Comox Valley Newcomers’ Alumnae.

Like many of us, after a few years I branched out and joined other groups and clubs in the Valley, but the Newcomers’ Alumnae remains my favorite. The caring women that I have met through the Alumnae have become friends. The activities are engaging and fun. And, the volunteer opportunities have allowed me to thrive and learn within an environment of warmth and friendship.

It is with excitement that I moved into my fifth year with the Newcomers’ Alumnae and my second term on the Executive, this time as President. We have such a wonderful group of women guiding our activities this year. I hope you’ll take part and, if we haven’t done so already, that one day we’ll meet.

Linda Graf
